Indonesia Plans Direct Flights From India To Bali
Indian tourists planning a dream holiday to Bali can soon arrive by way of direct flights. According to the Times of India, who quoted the consul general of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, Saut Siringoringo, Indonesia plans to connect eight cities of India with Jakarta and Bali. Siringoringo, who was at a tourism roadshow in India, also said that Ahmedabad is one of the cities with which Indonesia would like to have direct air connectivity. Other cities would include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
In 2015, it was reported that 250,000 Indian tourists visited Indonesia. Of them 90,000 went to Bali. This year the numbers are expected to increase to 300,000 but the biggest hurdle seems to be the lack of direct flights from India to Indonesia. Currently, Indian tourists fly to Indonesia via Singapore.
Siringoringo further said, “Gujarat and Bali have a historical connection. And Gujarat is a big market for us.”
