Indonesia Is Now Australia’s Favorite
Figures recently released in April this year from the Australian Bureau of Statistics have shown that Indonesia is now the most-preferred overseas holiday destination for Australians, effectively displacing New Zealand. Arief Yahya, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism attributed this to the new visa-free visits for all Australian passport holders.
As recent as March this year, New Zealand held the top spot with 123,600 Australians coming in to New Zealand and only 97,300 visiting Indonesia. As of April 2016, Australian visitors to Indonesia increased to 105,000 and declined to 97,300 to New Zealand.
Australian arrivals to Bali in April totaled 91.250 – an increase of 19.1% over April 2015. For the first four months of 2016, Australian arrivals at 334,529 are up 6.9% representing a total 22.74% market share of all foreign arrivals.
