Bali Headed for 4.6 Million Foreign Tourists in 2016

Recently in March this year, it was reported that Bali had received a total of 363,958 international tourist arrivals, a number that is 19.2% higher than arrivals in March 2015. Between January to March this year, foreign arrivals in Bali were recorded at 1,090,294. Based on this, the island is expecting a 15.25% increased arrivals rate through the end of 2016, making 2016 a record year for foreign arrivals at an estimate of 4.6 million visitors.

A large number of foreign tourists hail from Mainland China, representing 22.74% of the total market share, or a total of nearly 900,000. Australia slips to number two at 22.15% or 85,206 Australian tourists in March 2016. Japan sits at third place at 5.56%, however, Japanese tourists arrivals saw an increase of 12.7% as compared to March last year.

Highest number of arrivals through the end of Q1 were from the United Kingdom (+56.41%), India (+58.49%), Sweden (+57.42%), Germany (+44.04%), USA (+38.34%), France (+20.84%), Russia (+27.79%) and Canada (+19.69%).

Lowest number of arrivals for Q1 2016 were from the Philippines (-25.38%), Malaysia (-10.27%), South Korea (-10.02%) and Singapore (-5.09%).
