Bali A Modern Cruise Ship Destination
Bali is set to be a modern passenger cruise ship destination, according to Bisnes Bali after a “sand-breaking” ceremony at the port of Benoa, which marks the start of a port improvement project that will pave the way for large cruise ships and hundreds of sailing yachts carrying thousands of holidaymakers to Bali access to the port.
The current dredging activities at the port will be followed by a re-landscaping and pier improvements including a 12-metre depth to accommodate ships measuring 200 metres in length.
This means, more than 100 yachts will be able to berth at the dock. There are also plans to build shopping and accommodation facilities to support the development of the refurbished dock to facilitate the thousands of holidaymakers to Bali.
According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the target date for completion of the port is by the end of 2018 when the dock could berth ships carrying 5,000 holidaymakers to Bali.
